Go to events. It's important to know what's trendy in what crowd and apply that knowledge to your own work so you can cater to diverse tastes.
The most important skill is diplomacy. Without an ability to understand multiple points of view you are unable to anticipate major communication, scheduling, and budgetary conflicts that may arise.
With every event, I learn more about myself and my practice. It's rewarding to see that growth and how it shapes current events I am planning.
