The job outlook is great. Another good aspect is the fact the experience gained from it can be applied in any field, making it a great starter for someone who needs their first "real" job.

Get my high school diploma, and I also would suggest getting the Microsoft Office Specialist/Expert before getting a position as an admin assistant.

The most important skill is multitasking. Some other skills would be communication, staying on task, and being very resourceful.

The fact that is great experience and can be applied to any field is a rewarding thought, as well as being able to help others by showing your resourcefulness and communication skills.
No, there wasn't a "spark" or initial motivation to get a job as an Admin Support. This isn't my dream job or even on my goal list, it's there to pay the bills, gain the experience and to learn from it, no matter what.
