Careers For ISTJ Personalities

Introversion, sensing, thinking, and judgment are the four words that make up ISTJ - one of the 16 psychological types that are used in the publications of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. ISTJs account for about 13% of the population. Their defining characteristics are integrity, practical logic and tireless dedication to their duty. A sense of personal integrity and responsibility is core to the ISTJ; their word is a promise and they will do everything in their power to deliver the results they said they would. In fact, they are reluctant to give up responsibilities even when they are overburdened.

In the workplace, the ISTJ seeks structure, clearly defined rules, and respect for authority and hierarchy. They rather work alone, preferring autonomy and self-sufficiency to reliance on another individual. Their choice in careers usually revolve around already established institutions, like law enforcement or the military. In order for them to perform at their best, ISTJs need clearly defined roles, responsibilities and work environments.
